ARSENAL ARE ON THE MOVE FOR GERMAN SUPERSTAR MESUT OZIL

Arsenal continue to be linked to world class players this summer, and if their success rate at clinching some of these signings was even half as good as their rumour rate, they would probably win the Premier League in a canter this season.

The shock and awe rumour of the day comes to us courtesy of The Sun, who report that Arsenal are set to rival Manchester United for the services of Real Madrid's versatile playmaker Mesut Ozil, who might be in danger of losing his starting berth at the club to new arrival Gareth Bale.

While all Arsenal fans would no doubt love to see a player of Ozil's class grace the Emirates, it would be safe to classify this as yet another hit and hope rumour, after all Arsenal have been linked with practically half the Real Madrid side now in Gonzalo Higuain, Karim Benzema and Angel di Maria, what's the harm in throwing in the name of another!

There could be some element of truth behind this rumour in the sense that Ozil's starting berth in the German national team is under threat from the excellent Mario Gotze, and hence he needs his fair share of game time to ensure that he isn't benched at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, but despite the rumours in the press and Real Madrid's need to balance their books to some extent (yes even they need to once in a while), we see virtually no chance that the young German will ditch the Santiago Bernabeu for the Emirates this summer.
