It’s getting pretty nasty for the
Gunners out there who are eagerly waiting for their first summer signing (well
of course someone other than Yaya Sanogo). Last week following Arsenal’s
disappointing defeat to Aston Villa in the opening round of the Premier League
campaign, 4000 angry Arsenal fans wrote to the club demanding the management to
spend money. And yet there have been no new additions to the squad so far.
Although a 3-0 victory over Fenerbache
on Wednesday have restored parity to a certain extent, the fans are behind the
Wenger and the board all the time. Whilst Arsene Wenger have promised to sign
players, a plethora of them have actually been linked this week from the likes
of Cabaye and Kondogbia to Benzema and Di maria. Arsenal will face Fulham
tomorrow before they host Tottenham next week and the fans would like to see
fresh faces before they face their arch rivals.
This is the the letter, seen
by Sportsmail, which reads: ‘Many thanks for your email. We
understand and share your disappointment that Arsenal Football Club plc have
not secured any acquisitions on players for the new season.
‘In terms of our dealings in the
transfer market, we can assure you we have been working hard throughout the
summer to bring in additional players and this will continue until the end of
the transfer window.
‘We are clear that our ambition at
Arsenal is to compete for and win trophies. This ambition is shared by our
majority owner Stan Kroenke, the board, Arsene Wenger and everyone who works
for the Club.
‘I take this opportunity to thank you
for your continued and valued support of Arsenal Football Club plc.
‘On Behalf of Arsenal Football Club.’
