Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger recently
admitted the club’s interest in Chelsea midfielder, Juan Mata but feels the
transfer, with four days before the transfer window closes, will prove
difficult.
In
his post-match press conference following his side’s advancement into the group
stages of the Champions League, Wenger spoke about Mata and suspects that the
move is unlikely to happen due to English club’s reputation of not selling to
other English clubs, while neither confirming nor denying the reported presence
of Mata’s father in one of the guest suites.
“I
have heard, like you, that Juan Mata may be on the market,” he told the press.
“I like him [but] there is a reluctance in England to sell to each other.
“We
have to see how bad the injuries are but I can’t tell you more than that.
“We
are on the market – the whole world knows that now – but I can’t be more
creative than that because nothing has been concluded yet.”
Mata
has only played 64 minutes in three matches thus far this season, threatening
his chances of making the 2014 World Cup side for Spain, after receiving the
Chelsea player of the year for the past two seasons.
