The
fact that Chamakh may leave makes absolutely no difference to the team but
hugely benefits us financially. He barely featured last season and it will be
good to have him off our wage bill. That Gervinho is leaving is much more
interesting.
As far as I am concerned Gervinho was not exactly a fantastic
signing but also not as terrible as everybody keeps saying. He may be
frustrating to watch and does not exactly have the greatest composure in front
of goal, but he had a good beginning and end to the season and still contributed
over the campaign. He will need to be replaced, but the fact that we are
willing to let him go shows how things have changed this summer.
Not bad/okay
is no longer good enough. The
summer clear-out continues. So far none of our key players have left, so we
just need to hope that some of the players we have let go are replaced with
better ones. That will put the squad in good shape for the coming season. For
some reason Nicklas Bendtner is still hanging on even though he wants to leave
and we don’t want him. Hopefully somebody will take him off our hands soon!
