Arsenal have been under intense
pressure to spend and acquire before the transfer window, and one of their
areas that needs improvement is the goalkeeper spot.
According to Valencia-based, Spanish
sports daily Superdeporte, Arsenal representatives are in Valencia to
personally negotiate with the club to help speed talks along and reach an
amicable agreement in the coming days.
Valencia’s board is not thrilled by
the idea of selling Guaita and are more inclined to sell Alves, but Arsenal
will hope to convince the club and Guaita to come to London.
Guaita’s contract expires in 2015
and refused several inquiries by the club in regards to his interest in a
contract extension.
Over time the player has gotten
tired of the inconsistency at the goalkeeper position and wants to be the
starter.
The 26-year-old will or already has
reportedly submitted a formal transfer request as he looks to leave his boyhood
club after four years on the first team.
