ARSENAL SET TO OFFER £25 MILLION FOR THE SERVICE OF GERMAN INTERNATIONAL MIDFIELDER

Arsenal are set to bid for Borussia Dortmund star, Ilkay Gundogan, according to SportsDirectNews.com. The news website reports that Arsenal are preparing to bid around £25 million for the central midfielder. The 22 year old, who played a huge part in Dortmund’s run to the Champions League final, is looked upon by the Gunners as the defensive midfielder that they need. Gundogan is not only a great passer of the ball, but also does not shy away from a tackle, making him a perfect player for the DM.

Ilkay Gundogan is regarded in Germany as the replacement for Bastian Schweinsteiger for the national team, showing the expectations from him in his homeland, and there are many clubs linked to his signature this summer. Gundogan’s current contract ends in 2015 so should be available for a cheaper amount.

Real Madrid were earlier in the summer reportedly close to signing the powerful midfielder before signing Asier Illarramendi from Real Sociedad in £34m deal.

Meanwhile, Luis Suarez has broken his silence on his transfer saga to Arsenal, and told the Guardian that Liverpool had promised to let him go this season, if they failed to qualify for the Champions League, and if a bid over £40m came in, to which Liverpool obviously disagree.

He also said that At 26 years of age, it is his right to play in the Champions League, against Europe’s best players, and that he has shown enough loyalty to the club by sticking on for one more year, after a Champions League club had bid for him at the start of last season. He also said that he has proven his loyalty to the Liverpool fans with his performances on the pitch. He has been left out of Liverpool’s squad against Valarenga, with a suspected foot injury.
