KOSCIELNY FIT FOR ARSENAL

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been handed a boost by the news that defender Laurent Koscielny has been passed fit to play in Tonight’s game against Fenerbahce.

The Turkish side visit the Emirates Stadium in the second-leg of their Champions League qualifier. During Arsenal’s 3-0 first-leg success on Wednesday, Koscielny sustained a cut to his face following a high challenge.

His quick recovery comes as a relief to Wenger, who has reportedly considered bringing in a new defender this summer, to counter the injury problems, with Johan Djourou and Ignasi Miquel both out on loan. During Saturday’s victory at Fulham, Wenger was forced to play right-back Bacary Sagna in central defence.

Vermaelen has been injured for over a month with a back injury, and while the Belgian is able to run again, it will be some weeks before he returns to first-team training. Vermalen lost his place in the first-team towards the end of last season, as Wenger preferred Koscielny to play alongside Per Mertesacker.
