SIGN ANOTHER STRIKER – GIROUD TO WENGER
Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud hopes the club makes new signings before the end of the transfer window. The player believes the club needs a few more additions to help the challenge for honours this season.
Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta and Giroud have all expressed their excitement at the prospect of many world-class arrivals in the team after Ivan Gazidis announced the club had £70 million to spend. However, with less than two weeks left of the transfer window, the club are yet to spend any of it.
The fans are frustrated at the lack of business at the Emirates and voiced their concern after their defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday. The final whistle was met with a chorus of boos with the fans urging Wenger to spend.
Giroud agrees with the fans believing the club needs to spend to bring in more players.
“In my opinion, it’s necessary for the club to recruit another striker.”
The striker did however insist he can lead the attack for Arsenal this season.
“Obviously, I think about it a little bit. It may change the play one day, especially if it’s a high profile signing. It’s useless lamenting this though. I know what I have to do and what I’m capable of. I’m focusing on me and my work. The coach is counting on me, so I don’t think too much.”
Since the defeat, Arsenal have made bids for Yohan Cabaye, Paul Pogba and Uchida but are still no closer to signing anyone.
