Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is planning a double swoop for PSV Eindhoven pair Georginio Wijnaldum and Zakaria Bakkali.
The Gunners have endured a fairly low-key summer on the transfer front, with French youngster Yaya Sanogo their only arrival so far.
Wenger was heavily linked with moves for Luis Suarez and Bernard, but with the latter having moved to Shakhtar Donetsk and Liverpool holding firm in their stance to keep the talismanic forward, the Londoners have been unable to strengthen significantly.
However, the Frenchman is hoping that he can address this with moves for both Wijnaldum and Bakkali.
Arsenal scouts have watched the duo recently, and are believed to have sent positive reports back to the Emirates Stadium.
Wijnaldum is seen as one of Dutch football’s top young stars, and has already been capped for Holland despite being just 22-years-of-age.
The youngster started his career with rivals Feyenoord, before moving to the Philips Stadion in 2004.
Bekkali is also highly rated after recently becoming the youngest ever player to net an Eredivisie hat-trick at the tender age of 17.
The Belgian has won four caps at U-21 level and is expected to move up to the country’s senior squad in the not too distant future.
