Arsene Wenger has revealed that
Marouane Chamakh and Gervinho are both set to leave Arsenal, according to BBC Sport,
with Chamakh heading for Premier League new boys Crystal Palace and Gervinho
bound for Serie A side Roma.
Chamakh moved to the
Gunners on a free transfer from Bordeaux in 2010 but has struggled to replicate
his Ligue 1 form in English football - the 29-year-old scored 61 times for
Bordeaux but has netted only 14 goals for Arsenal, and spent the second half of
last season on loan with West Ham. Chamakh made only three appearances under Sam
Allardyce and failed to score. It is not yet known if he is to join Palace on
loan or in a permanent move.
Gervinho, meanwhile, was
bought from Lille for around £11m in the summer of 2011 and is set to be
reunited with Rudi Garcia, his manager at the French club, who was appointed at
Roma this summer. The fee for the Ivory Coast international is expected to be
in the region of £7m, with Gervinho making a final appearance in Arsenal
colours at the pre-season tournament at the Emirates Stadium over the weekend.
He leaves Arsenal after scoring 11 goals in 63 games.
