WENGER: ARSENAL’S YOUNGSTERS WILL BE STRONGER THIS SEASON – GET BEHIND THEM!

Arsene Wenger seems to believe that his current squad of youngsters that have come through the ranks at the Emirates are good enough to challenge for honours next season, and doesn’t seem bothered about bringing in outsiders to unsettle the squad. I admit that the ten-game unbeaten run at the end of last season will be a confidence booster for the side, but will they improve enough to start getting positive results against the other sides challenging for the Top Four positions in the Premiership?
Although Wenger hints at still looking to bring in players (Suarez?), he thinks the Arsenal policy of bringing through youngsters who are taught the “Arsenal Way” of playing will give the Gunners a head start against their competitors.
Wenger said: “We are still working on improving our squad but we have a basis of young players who are getting a chance here — players who started in the Premier League like Wojciech Szczesny, Carl Jenkinson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and Theo Walcott,’ he said.
‘No-one else has done that. Look at our competitors. Who has started for them in the Premier League in the last 10 years?
‘I believe all of those players have a special bond and are on the way up. They will be better next year and that’s why I’m confident we will be stronger next season.
‘It gives me a slight advantage because I know my squad well. It will take my rivals some time to know theirs, except Jose Mourinho, who knows some of his from before.
‘But we should focus on our strengths rather than expect any weakness from the others.
Last season Arsenal started badly after RVP left and the supporters were frustrated and restless, but Wenger thinks we will start much better, especially if the fans can be positive from the sidelines.
The Frenchman continued: “It is important to have a strong start and raise belief. Last season when we lost Robin van Persie we had a sceptical environment around the club. We need the crowd to be behind the team.’
Wenger was then asked if his depressing recent record of (not) winning trophies has dented his motivation, but he replied that when (if?) he does win, he gets the satisfaction of having done it using his own “style of play”.
He concluded: “There are two kinds of people – those who hate to lose, and those who love to win. I personally hate to lose because that is a failure when you lose a football game.
‘But I love to win as well because you could think the style of play I love has triumphed when I win the game.’
So Wenger is BOTH types of people lol! He certainly is proud of winning games with his youngsters, but are they capable of winning trophies without bringing in the occasional star from outside the club?
