Its
a rather large u-turn being reported from Uruguay this Wednesday as Luis Suarez
appears to have signalled his willingness to remain at Liverpool and reject the
advances of Arsenal.
Highly
regarded Uruguay journalist Martin Charquero, who has close links with the
player and his advisers, reported on Twitter on Tuesday evening that “Luis
Suarez will not leave Liverpool.”
Uruguayan
newspaper El Observador have also spoken to Suarez in the lead up to the
Japan-Uruguay friendly who has pulled out the following quote to suggest he
will be staying at Anfield:
“Right
now, because of all the affection from the Liverpool fans, I will be staying.”
Just
last week, Luis Suarez told The Guardian and Daily Telegraph that he wanted to
leave Liverpool and was then urged by Brendan Rodgers to apologise.
There
are suggestions that Luis Suarez’s new contract will include a release clause
if Liverpool do not make Champions League football, that is a lot clearer than
the current agreement that has been referenced for much of the summer.
