Crystal
Palace have completed the signing of Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh.
Chamakh
has joined the Barclays Premier League newcomers after competing a medical, and
will wear the number 29 shirt.
The
29-year-old France-born Morocco international has signed a one-year deal with
the Eagles.
Chamakh
becomes Palace boss Ian Holloway's seventh new signing since they clinched
promotion from the Championship.
The
29-year-old striker had fallen out of favour at Arsenal and endured a dismal
spell on loan at West Ham last season.
Holloway,
speaking after Palace had lost 1-0 against Lazio last weekend, said: 'I
normally do okay with people whose careers are faltering. I love them up and
work with them, and hopefully I can get him back to how he was after he joined
Arsenal.
'There
was nothing wrong with him then when he scored eight in nine. But I wouldn't
fancy being Robin van Persie's understudy, it can't have been fun.'
