TOTTENHAM KEEN ON ARSENAL STAR

Spurs are set to allow Gareth Bale to leave White Hart Lane in a world-record deal, and are keen to invest some of the cash in new players to replace the talismanic Welshman.

Although moves for Willian and Erik Lamela – of Anzhi Makhachkala and Roma respectively – are believed to be of preference, the north Londoners have approached their local rivals to talk about Podolski.

The German lost his starting berth at the Emirates Stadium at the back end of the last campaign, and didn’t start the Gunners’ opening day defeat to Aston Villa, prompting speculation that he could be free to move on.

Spurs are believed to be keen on a left-sided attacker, a role that Podolski has occupied with success at a domestic and international level for some time.

However, the bitter relationship between the two clubs could prevent a deal from being reached, particularly as there are a number of other clubs interested.

Schalke, Galatasaray and Wolfsburg are all said to be keen, but the Gelsenkirchen-based outfit are thought to be the frontrunners.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are also plotting moves for Real Madrid pair Karim Benzema and Angel Di Maria.

Will Wenger let Him (Podolski)  go????
